practical test
conducted by szczym and zoe on 02.04.09
firefox internal rss reader
- front page rss feed
- no name of feed appears on the list of feeds
- description of feed concerns a technical aspect, but should display general description of content
- front page atom feed:
- no name again
- description problem as with rss
- tag rss+atom feed
- shows the name of feed, but it's only the taxonomy name, not the name 'ifiwatch.tv'
- description for the tag feed is not meaningful (http://www.ifiwatch.tv/en/taxonomy/term/47/video/feed)
miro rss+atom
- problems like with firefox
- no image concerning whole feed
- no size of video media (in bytes)
itunes
- the feed does not work at all. (it will be possible to put into apple store if content will be ipod/mp4 and feed will have itunes tags)
networking with other collectives
- transmission.cc
- feed not updated regularly (fix: feed will be updated every 1h, now depends on cron.php )
- no opml feed (fix: musicman notifed)
- rss feed out of aggregator is very short (fix: site have to be set to display more items in feeds)
- independent 3rd party websites
- no way to display videos on other websites as a block with latests videos and images http://transmission.cc/node/146
website user interface
- the name of the site needs to be written in big text across the top
- a permanent description text ('mission') should be installed at the top of the page, complete with the promo video - and not as an ordinary item, as at present. (mission on every page)
- calendar icon on the keyword view eg. http://www.ifiwatch.tv/en/keyword/yes-men should not be there
- drupal icon in url box - change the 'drupal' icon in the url box to an ifiwatch icon.
- Would also be good to replace the blue ifiwatch image (used as default for vids with no thumbnail) with one that matches the colours now used in the site.
- search is mess.
- no information on possible usage of website (miro, feed readers, ect.)
Thunderbird
- name of the feed becomes the description
- too few feed items
to be done
- drupal agregation
- wordpress agregation
