Its like subscribing to a channel.
Its like setting up your own TV Channel only with some bunch of s’ware to subscribe the videos for multiple view and enable sharing.
Basic Idea and concept of podcast.
1. Traditional TV station facilities i.e. Studio, Satellite/Transmitter, networking union (i.e ABU in asia), big investors, archive, talents
But how to set up a Tv channel at your own comfort without huge buck of money being invested…
Setup a PodCast station
PodCast - Cheap and Easy to setup
i.e. POdTV.jp an example of commercial podcast station
How to turn your own room or office into a Podcast studio for blue/green screen production.
Studio with the following settings/facilities
1. Wall – double layered thick walls for sound proof purposes
2. Paint - a part of a wall painted with chroma green
3. High ceiling
4. Carpeted floor
5. Wall powerpoints / floor powerpoints
6. Cold lighting – not the normal florescent tube light but a studio light
7. Quiet Air-cond properly angled
8. One side tilted double layered glasses in between the studio and control room
Control Room consists of:
1. 2 units of iMacs (For production and post-production)
2. S’ware for Mac called Wirecast (a webcast s’ware) that allows you to do the multicamera production and also to act as a switcher.
3. For live streaming purpose, Wirecats is acts as a switcher and as a streaming server at the same time.
4. Via internet connection we can do live streaming
5. Wirecast can stream the video from the camera back to the iMac as a video file to proceed for the editing.
6. Use firewire hub to connect more than 2 cameras to the iMac.
7. Final Cut Pro studio bundle for the post-production in the 2nd iMac unit.

1. There’s a S’ware called ‘Prompt’ for this purpose.
Equipment wise
1. Good sound ins extremely important.
2. Good camera and tripod
3. 3-point lighting
Archive
1. The new wirecast support HDV format and HDV is the future now.
2. The final digital format should be in mp4 to be uploaded in the webpage.
3. Archive the raw footages in the tapes and the final product in the digital format
4. Drupal/Plumi are good for archiving the digital files online.
5. For large number of archive, consider getting a CMS.
6. Metadata also better to be employed in the beginning for content management.

- YouTube – low quality, their logo, maybe one time video posting
- BlipTv is okay
- Enggage Media is great
Channel distribution/RSS Feed
RSS feed is common trend that technology turning the video files into a list of headline connected to a website.
If one intend to do video blogging, RSS feed is great. Once a viewer subscribe to your RSS feed, they will be kept inform and a bond will be established. Also called channels, but better known as RSS feed.
Once you get an RSS feed address, you need to pass the address around by manually spreading the address for distribution but the internet TV players (also known as Vod Catchers) like iTunes (licensed) , MIRO (open source) or Joost, does it for you easily.
Once you subscribe to this video distribution sites or video search engines (Miro or iTunes) you will have a small rss logo or link at the page on your own video blog and people can click and subscribe to your video.
‘Limewire’ and ‘Bit Torrent’ are more suitable for download purposes …
